The Staff Engineer at BridgeFund is responsible for designing and implementing scalable, high-performance backend applications that leverage the Node.js framework to support business requirements. To qualify for this role, you should have a strong background in Node.js development, architecture design, and software engineering. Knowledge about NestJS is a pre.

You should be experienced in leading development teams from a technical perspective, working with cross-functional stakeholders, and delivering complex systems on time and on budget. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills are essential for success in this role. The ability to work with various technologies such as databases, caching systems, cueing systems, MySQL/MongoDB and message brokers is also important.

What you will work on

As the Staff Engineer you take the lead in translating the high level solution architect designs into practical software implementations. You set out best practices, implement design patterns and create a standardized, modern and scalable techstack for the business. The Staff Engineer is open minded and can create consensus in a team on technical solutions. The Staff Engineer can facilitate discussions around technical solutions and is open to new and innovative ideas. The goal is to have buy-in from the team and together build towards the solution that best fits the business and team's vision.

Architectural Oversight:

  • Lead the design and architecture of complex systems, ensuring they align with the overall technical strategy and business goals.

  • Make high-impact technical decisions and provide direction on system architecture, scalability, and performance.

Code Quality and Best Practices:

  • Establish and enforce coding standards, best practices, and development processes.

  • Review code and ensure high standards of quality, security, and maintainability.

Technical Strategy and Vision:

  • Collaborate with senior leadership to define the technical vision and strategy for the organization.

  • Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, integrating relevant advancements into the technical roadmap.

Project Leadership:

  • Lead major projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and meet the required specifications and quality standards.

  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including product management, operations, and other engineering teams, to align efforts and deliver results.

Problem Solving and Innovation:

  • Address complex technical challenges and provide innovative solutions.

  • Foster a culture of innovation by encouraging experimentation and creative problem-solving within the team.

Mentoring Technical Leads:

  • Mentor other technical leads and senior engineers, helping them develop their leadership and technical skills.

  • Build and nurture a strong leadership pipeline within the engineering organization.

What can we learn from you

  • Minimum of 8 years of overall experience in software development and engineering, including significant exposure to system architecture and design
  • A strong background in developing large-scale web applications in NodeJs or Java

  • Expert knowledge of Node.js and its ecosystem, including popular libraries and frameworks (we love NestJS!).

  • Excellent understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.

  • Solid understanding of relational (MySQL) and non-relational (MongoDB) database fundamentals, focusing on architectural considerations. Expertise in event driven architecture is a huge plus

  • Extensive experience in designing RESTful web services and APIs, with a strong grasp of microservices architecture

  • Proven ability to translate high-level architectural concepts into practical implementations

  • Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills coupled with the ability to think strategically about technology and its business impact

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and lead technical team.

  • Exposure to continuous integration, unit testing, static analysis, and automated integration tests. Continuous delivery experience preferred

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, results-focused environment

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and collaboration skills to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams

Stap 3

Tweede gesprek

Pas jij bij de rol? Dan nodigen we je uit op kantoor. Daar heb je eerst een informeel koffiemoment met een van je toekomstige collega’s en daarna ga je in gesprek met je hiring manager en iemand uit het team.
